Javier Erazo, 21, was arrested on Saturday, June 22, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to a report of Erazo meeting up with a 13-year-old girl near Kingston and Sunset avenues at around 2:28 p.m.
Police found the two and started talking with them about their relationship. Officers learned they had met on social media.
Erazo was taken into custody after police learned he was aware of the girl's age and "wanted to engage in a sexual relationship with her." Investigators also said Erazo made "incriminating statements" about another case where he was accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl when he was 16 in March 2019.
Erazo was charged with attempt to lure or entice a juvenile, sexual assault, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges include the accusations in the 2019 case.
Anyone with information about this incident should call the Atlantic City Police Department at 609-347-5766. You can also send an anonymous text that begins with "ACPD" to TIP411 (847411).
Erazo was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
